Daddy’s Boots

You left me in the cold

You left me in the winter cold;

At the peak of my adulthood.

I never really had a chance to look at my life because I was always busy and; hey it happens….

You left me

Even when I was a child.

I was alone.

I never had much of a childhood

No one.

I had no one.

Daddy left me as a young child and so did mama.

He used to call me son despite the fact that I was a very young girl.

I wasn’t happy just knowing that you left me too

Like everyone else; you’d just push me away

To the snow and down the cold pit to fall to the ground.

You left me like daddy and mama.

With mama’s pictures and daddy’s boots to wear to war

Now I look at them and daddy’s boots and mama’s pictures

Now….

Ever since you told me to get out and go away….

Know.

I will love you….

Always.

And goddamn you

Know that I’ll be out there in the cold….

Waiting for the sun to kiss you.

for the sun;

for you to make me feel warm again….
