A Villanelle For A Broken Heart....

a villanelle, in which the rhyme scheme is ABA ABA ABA ABA ABA ABAA

My heart was broken before I met you.

I had no hope.

I thought you could come and save me from my wall; and you broke right through it. Just like you left me. In two.

It is so hard now to get over you.

But your love kept pulling me to be better like a rope.

But it was all I could do to heal to get over you too.

I hope that someday you’ll get to see me again soon but now; it is not a good thing to do.

I wish sometimes you would’ve been more understanding when it came to a broken mirror of past memories so I can cope.

My heart was broken before I met you.

Now I don’t understand how everything was happening all at once but never really began to me or to you

I will never be somewhere in your memory, but when I’m gone, you will somewhere be in mine, but it’ll be too late down the slippery slope

When you told me you didn’t want me; I couldn’t choke back tears because I couldn’t cope by wondering if you had felt the same way too.

I will never make the mistake of trying to fix you, but you sure know how to tell me to leave. And that’ll fix you.

I will wait for you forever. Because in truth; I’ve waited long for love in hope

My heart was broken before I met you.

I had no hope for me or for you

So down I went through the slippery slope

For you to find me was my only hope

The only way that I would cope.
