A Sonnet of Lucifer

Said the devil to the milkmaid,

I can sing you of a thousand songs and tell you of all religions, races and creeds and of right and wrong.

If you promise to be mine and come with me where we shall sing of song and of rhyme.

The milkmaid listened and said “Who’s there?” for it was her time to go, but he simply replied “For I know wisdom in all the right ways so sign your way into the perilous gate.”

I can sing to you of a thousand love songs in rhyme and take you through any passage in time.

Said the devil to the milkmaid.

“The foul beast Lucifer!” she screamed at he.

But he simply replied “I will love you if you come to me.”

If you promise to be mine and come with me where we shall sing of song and of rhyme.

Where I can give you everything here and there and take you by my demon wing.

Here I will show you the mosques of hell and take you to our metropolis amongst the citadels.

Said the devil to the milk maid.

Where demons rise and come to serve you and only I of service grant you

My darling, my sweet  I will not desert you.

If you promise to be mine and come with me where we shall sing of song and of rhyme.

“No!” she shrieked “I will not go where bodies and fallen angels jut upon the rocks to your demise!” she cried

“Fine then wench!” he yelled and scoffed “Then off to heaven!” He screeched and bellowed.

Said the devil to the milkmaid.

If you promise to be mine and come to me where we can sing of song and rhyme.
