The Scattered Heart

The scattered pebbles on the sea shore were like the scattered, broken pieces of your heart….

and your heart could never mend.

The waves of the sea must have scattered your heart with every beat of the syllables in the rhythm of each palpitation.

The thump-thump-thumping of your heart must have radioactive rays in the ocean to cause such sorrow in the whistling of the wind and the rhythm of the rain…

Each current tugging at each end of the machinery….

at each end of your heart….

Like the loose ends of a tight rope I have learned to let you go into the current where they push and pull and tug at you.

The beauty of of this sublimity has made me quite daft

and what must rise must fall….

Like the current into where I broke your heart encased with all your loving heart and the arms that used to encase me with that heart.

I have let you go into the current.

Cast like a caught and healthy fish that knows no bounds

The fish loses its way through the currents like your heart.

Like a tree that life has made grow for many years,

your heart stays at the root of thee ocean.

Yes, love, your heart.

In the empty seas, your heart is lost somewhere I cannot reach.

I reach for it again only receiving long intervals of your sanity which I could keep for my own to cherish as your burden, making you thus sane through my pain….

but alas,

I cannot return the simple joys of your heart to its same place.

I reach for your heart like the fish swept at sea where I know your heart lies….

and finally,

The scattered pebbles on the sea shore were like the scattered, broken pieces of your heart….
